Preparing to stay at home for the next 14 days? Follow this checklist not only for coronavirus but for any other natural disaster (like hurricane, tornado) for which you may need to stay at home for a week or more.
Food Supply: Stock up canned food (beans, soup, chickpeas) or nonperishable items (rice, oats, pasta) that could last for at least 2 weeks. Chips, chocolates, soda, coffee (and alcohol) could help in cheering your mood during these tough times. Make sure you have enough supply of baby food and pet food.
Water Supply: Make sure you have at least half a gallon of water per day per person in the household. It’s a good idea to buy water filters as a backup.
Medicines: Keep a month’s supply of your prescribed medicines. Make sure you have a first-aid kit, thermometer, pain relievers, and vitamins.
Entertainment: Prepare for in-house entertainment like download movies on Netflix, songs on iTunes, books on Audible or Amazon Fire and podcasts on iHeart. Buy a few board games, toys, books and magazines for your kids and pets.
Other Items: Few other items to stock up: cash, tissues, toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, diapers, laundry detergent, contraception, flashlight, and batteries. Make sure the gas tank of your car is full. You may also purchase a portable gas tank for the hurricane season.
The most important thing is to be considerate of others and not to buy more than your family is expecting to use.
